Australian MEPS Certification

MEPS - Minimum Energy Performance Standards

Electronic and electrical products, energy consumption performance more and more attention by ordinary consumers around the world with the electrical and electronic products, energy requirements are very certified. Testing & Certification Australia also conducts MEPS certification for the Australian market. The Australian government's energy requirements include energy labeling and minimum energy consumption (MEPS).

All the following electronic products sold in Australia must be ordered to be accompanied by an energy consumption label:

* Refrigerator with ice maker

* Washing machine

* Dryers

* dishwasher

* Air conditioning (single phase of the mandatory, three-phase voluntary)

The following products also need to be controlled according to the minimum energy consumption standard (MEPS) basis - that is, their minimum energy consumption level:

* Refrigerators and ice makers (implemented on October 1, 1999, revised on January 1, 2005)

* Main pressure storage electric water heater (October 1, 1999 implementation)

* Small main pressure storage type electric water heater (<80L) and low pressure heat exchange type (October 1, 2005 implementation) (refer to AGO in the limits and test methods)

* Three-phase motor (0.73 kW to <185 kW) (October 1, 2001 implementation, revised in April 2006)

* Single-phase air conditioning (October 1, 2004 implementation, were revised in 2006,2007 and April 1, 2008)

* Three-phase air conditioning with cooling capacity of 65 kW (October 1, 2001, revised on October 1, 2007)

* Straight tube fluorescent lamp ballast (from 1 March 2003). Note In addition to MEPS, the ballast also needs to mark the performance index (EEI).

* Straight tube fluorescent lamp - Contains 550 mm to 1500 mm and lighting power greater than 16 watts (October 1, 2004)

* Distribution Transformers - 11 kV and 22 kV rating of 10 kVA to 2.5 MVA (October 1, 2004)

* Commercial freezer (owned and remote control system) (October 1, 2004 implementation)

The following products have not yet been included in the mandatory management of the directory, but in the near future must also meet the energy consumption norms and access to certification, some of which product implementation date has been determined.

* External power supply (implemented on October 1, 2008);

* Set-top box (October 1, 2008 implementation);

* TV;

* Home entertainment equipment: (audio and video equipment) (October 1, 2008 implementation);
