KC certification is aimed at enabling consumers to have a clearer understanding of the certification marks on purchased products and reducing the various certification fees borne by product manufacturers. On August 20, 2008, the Korean Institute of Technical Standards (KATS) announced the implementation of a new certification system starting from January 1, 2009. KC certification is divided into KC safety certification, KC EMC certification, KC RF certification, and some products also have energy efficiency MEPS/E-Standby requirements.

KC Safety Certification

There are three schemes for KC security certification, and different products are suitable for different schemes.

·KC Safety Certification - KC safety certification requires initial factory testing and follow-up inspections every two years. (Typical products such as adapters, lighting fixtures, and most household appliances)

·KC Safety Confirmation - KC safety confirmation does not require factory inspection. Typical products such as monitors, air purifiers, etc

·Confirmation of KC Self declaration suitability. Similar to manufacturer self declaration.

Is KC certification divided into "voluntary certification" and "mandatory certification"?

Volunteerism and coercion, voluntariness means doing what you want to do, and not doing what you don't want to do. And coercion is something that must be done, and not doing it is not enough. From this information, it can be seen that when exporting to South Korea, the product categories are divided between voluntary and mandatory.

The methods of voluntary and compulsory regulation are also different:

Mandatory is the requirement to undergo annual factory audits and product spot checks and tests;
