EU RoHS certification - adding an exemption clause for lead and cadmium
On January 10, 2024, the Official Journal of the European Union released RoHS Revised Directive (EU) 2024/232, aimed at adding an exemption for cadmium and lead in plastic profiles for electrical and electronic doors and windows containing recycled rigid PVC. This exemption revision directive will take effect 20 days after the official announcement.
Appendix III of the RoHS Directive currently includes a series of exemptions to allow the use of certain harmful substances in specific circumstances. However, due to the continuous progress and changes in technology and the market, exemptions need to be constantly updated and adjusted to adapt to new market and environmental demands.
This revision aims to expand the scope of Appendix III of the RoHS Directive and add an exemption for cadmium and lead in plastic profiles for electrical and electronic doors and windows containing recycled hard PVC.
The specific content of the newly added exemption clause is as follows:
The Directive (EU) 2024/232 issued by the European Commission is a positive measure aimed at promoting sustainable development and meeting market demand.
By increasing exemptions for cadmium and lead in electrical and electronic door and window plastic profiles containing recycled hard PVC, the European Commission provides manufacturers with broader development space and also helps promote the EU's environmental protection efforts.
