Photobiological safety test

The reason for light biosecurity:

In the past, there was no detailed measurement and evaluation method for the damage caused by light radiation to the human body. The traditional test method was to evaluate the content of ultraviolet or non-visible light contained in the light wave. Therefore, when the LED appears, we evaluate the laser product with the same standard IEC / EN 60825. LED products are no longer covered by IEC / EN 60825-1: 2007 and are subject to risk assessment according to IEC / EN 62471. The IEC / EN 60825 is only suitable for laser products.

Standard for photobiological safety:

IEC / EN 62471 applies to all lamp and lamp systems, including LEDs, incandescent bulbs, fluorescent lamps, gas discharge lamps, arc lamps and other lamps and lamps.

EU regulations for household energy efficiency requirements for non-directional lamps 244/2009 Designation of tests for UV content is subject to IEC / EN 62471 (including energy-saving lamps and incandescent lamps / halogen lamps).

CB certification for self-rectifying LED lamps must include IEC 62471 and IEC TR 62471-2 for photobiological safety testing.

According to OSM / CTL resolution, LED lamps must be in accordance with IEC / EN 62471.

LED module For labels for human eye protection, refer to IEC / EN 62471.

Scope: All lights and light systems (non-coherent wideband light source, 200-3000nm)

LED lighting products are no longer covered by the latest version of IEC60825-1, need to be evaluated in accordance with IEC62471

Measurement of biological safety:

1. pupil diameter simulation

The amount of radiation (380-1400nm) absorbed into the eye and absorbed by the retina is proportional to the pupil area, and the test instrument needs to simulate the pupil diameter under different conditions

L>10cd m-2 and t >0.25s:3mm pupil diameter

L<10cd m-2 or t <0.25s:7mm pupil diameter

2. measurement of field of view selected

Due to the movement of the eye, the field of view will change with time, and the appropriate measurement field should be chosen according to different exposure time

t≤0.25s:0.0017rad

0.25s<t≤10s:0.0017 rad

10s<t≤100s:0.011rad

100s<t≤10000s:0.011 rad

t>10000s:0.1rad

3. Test distance

Ordinary light source (GLS): ① produce 500lx illumination distance; ② minimum distance 200mm

Other types of light source: 200mm

4. Spectral scan step size

Less than 400nm: It is recommended to scan at 1nm

Greater than 400nm: 5nm is recommended for scanning steps
